What motivated you to go into this industry?

I wanted a change and saw an opportunity within this industry to gain more knowledge and improve my skills. It is a complete different industry to what I am used to and to date has been satisfying. I have been searching for many years to find that industry where I can settle and I finally feel that I have.

What has been the most surprising part of being a women in this industry?

There are actually quite a few woman in decision making/purchasing roles and who have significant knowledge about the products and the industry.

Who has influenced you the most in this industry?

One of my colleagues, who has been in the industry for more than 40 years and who has taught me and guided me on this journey. The amount of knowledge and expertise that he possesses is priceless.

What are your impressions of the industry for 2019?

It has been extremely competitive due to price sensitivity as well as product quality.

What is the biggest change you have seen in the industry?

The increase in competitors and products as well as price sensitivity within the market.

What has been your most memorable moment?

I started out as the Head of Marketing and have now taken a new role as a sales representative and it has been an exciting period in my career. Meeting new people and gaining more valuable knowledge and expertise will always be invaluable to me and I am looking forward to the future working within this industry as a woman.

What was your favorite project you have ever worked on?

I have been in the industry for less than 2 years so I cannot pin point a favorite project but if I had to choose it would be the BAUMA 2018.

What do you find the most rewarding?

Meeting people and building that customer relationship with them. It is also quite rewarding gaining all this knowledge about the industry and the people within it.

What advice would you give other women considering the industry?

I feel that more and more woman are entering the market and let’s face facts, it is more appealing to receive a visit from a female representative. Times are changing and there is a huge opportunity for a female to grow within the industry.

What would you like to see changed in the industry?

To have more prominent women within the industry and to be taken seriously.

What is your favorite TV Show / Movie / Book / Music?

Favorite TV show is the American Survivor- hopefully one day I will be able to be a contestant on the South African one.
