New UD Trucks dealer opens in Harrismith

UD Trucks announced the establishment of a new dealership in Harrismith, Free State. The dealership, which will officially open its doors on 4 September, is strategically located inside the Highway Junction truck stop right of the busy N3 highway, and will offer UD fleet owners convenient sales, service and maintenance support.

Opinion piece: AMSA and Safeguard Duties: a sSap in the face of the steel downstream

All attempts to stop the implementation of safeguard duties have failed. According to an announcement by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), safeguard duties came into effect on 11 August 2017. From this date import duties of 22 percent (10 percent customs- and 12 percent safeguard duties) will be paid on all imports of hot rolled steel.

Truck sales down but businesses still have confidence in market

The seventh month of the year saw the commercial vehicle market experience negative growth in all three truck sub-segments of the market.This is according to the latest results released by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), Associated Motor Holdings (AMH) and Amalgamated Automobile Distributors (AAD).
